Reid is a descendant of male witches (warlocks) who had come to the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts in 1692. It was one of five magical families. They had magical abilities, referred to as "the Power", and formed a covenant of silence to protect themselves from persecution due to the witch hunts that went on during those dark years. Four of the five bloodlines survived to this day (the fifth was known to either left the fold or were wiped out). Reid is close friends with the descendants of the other three families; Pogue, Tyler, and Caleb, though he is closest to Tyler. They were known as the Sons of Ipswich and attended the the elite Spenser Academy. They have a close bond due to their ancestry, similar to that of a brotherhood. And they have all inherited the powers that their predecessors had, since the time of their ancestors, down on through the present day.

But things had soon got interesting and disrupted their mundane, casual lives. The dead body of a student was discovered after a party. Secrets begin to unravel which threatened to break the covenant that has protected them for centuries; the long-lost fifth member of the original five families, thought dead during the original witch trials, had come back. A boy named Chase Collins who was thirsty for more and more power (as he was over 18, using too much would drain his life, therefore, he'd take other lives and extend his own). He sought to take the power from Caleb. But no one else was safe either. A girl was mentally tortured, threatened with death, and Caleb's girlfriend Sarah was even in the crossfire (Pogue was threatened as well, injured in an "accident"). While Reid and Tyler were at Prom, Caleb had taken on Chase.. and succeeded. After this victory, the boys had went on to graduate.

Incentive: Reid's incentive could be one out of three possible options. First, a large sum of money, which he'd agree to the contract if a couple million greens were involved (and because despite his "bad boy" status from school, he does sometimes help people out). Second option, a scholarship for professional swimmers or entry into the Olympic swimming teams. Third option - removing the "price" for the Power, in that overly using magic won't cause him to age rapidly into old age and die (or if not removing it totally, then at least slowing it down).

Threat Level: Medium to Slightly High (if going by powwer level 1-5, he may rank from 3 to 3.6).

It's true that he would occasionally get into bar fights, some which may have included a little magic. However, in most of those situations, the violence was provoked by the other party, or he saw them roughing someone else up and had to act; his wanting to use magic on Chase is also similar to that, in that the target in question was a warlock and murderer. He generally doesn't get involved in most fight scenarios by his own initiative, but is usually on the defensive (sometimes he might have provoked a fight too but such was rare). He has magic abilities that can send some people flying across a room, or a "touch of pain" or telekinetically throwing things - but it's not something he would regularly due, plus he doesn't wish to use too much magic at the risk of the "price" (unless that was removed via the Incentive, in which case he chooses not to start fights because he's not into it anymore).
